Firefox also gives me a pop up asking if I want to use a previous home page or the new home page and I keep telling it to use the new home page and the pop up continues. I have repeatedly put the new home page in my Control Panel and on the fire fox browser but it still asks.

That is an alert. Something is trying to change your home page. What is the web address of the unwanted homepage?

It looks like your Firefox is current. Did you update from Mozilla.org ?

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
