My email application is MS Office Outlook, which is already selected against the Content Type 'mailto' under Firefox options.

Thanks. I also found after posting this question that Email Link... appears in the pop-up menu when i right-click the mouse when hovering over the web page.

Whoops, I forgot that menu-item is in the contextual menu, too. I routinely hide most of the default contextual menu items, with the number of add-ons I run that list gets very long if I don't hide the ones I don't use or use infrequently when the same menu-item is located in another location, too.
