Why won't my home page remain set to anyhting other than the default?
Ive never had this problem before. My home page setting won't change from the "Mozilla Firefox Home Page" no matter how many times I try to change it. The second I close the preferences tab, it goes right back to the default. This only started a few days ago after I started using Sync for the first time; would that have something to do with it? The Mac I'm using is new, I've only had it a week, and I may be missing a setting somewhere on it. Those are the only two things that have changed.

Did you try to disconnect Sync to see if that has effect?
You can disable the home page from sync by setting the corresponding services.sync.prefs.sync pref to false on the about:config page.
- services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
