TB won't load messages except on start up or changing IMAP account server security settings and then only once.

Suddenly TB won't load messages or sync except if I close the program and restart. It only syncs once and then the get message or auto retrieve no longer function at all. The only other thing I have found that works is if I change the server security settings from none to SSL/TLS or STARTSSLm, the get message button will work once and then not again, unless I change the security settings again.

I notice that if I change the settings and click get message, the notification bar shows logging in and downloading/syncing, but after that 1 successful connection, the get message button doesn't do anything or show anything in the notification bar.

I even set auto retrieve for 4 minutes but that doesn't work.

I deleted the whole account and rebuilt it. TB downloaded all my folders and messages perfectly, but the get message button still doesn't work.

I am on the latest release 38.7.1

Trying to fix this, I found 1 other thing. In TB I can move an email from one folder to another and on the server (using webmail) the mail gets moved, but when I go to the folder in TB, the moved message isn't there, though it is gone from it's original folder.

It seems like no folders will sync with the server inbound but outbound is fine.

Hi - at least 3 others are having the same issue -

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1116139 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1116025 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1116133

I have it too. New messages will not download until I quit TB and restart. Odd thing is, if I mark a message as 'unread' in TB, it appears as unread in Webmail - so some sort of communication is still happening.

FYI - I downgraded back to v37 and it works fine - so something in TB38 is the culprit. Of course, I now have the Timeout messages when sending that plagued TB37...

Downgrading to 37 didn't help me, but I have found that if you move an email from inbox to another folder, inbox does sync/refresh. Obviously this is a bug, but it may be exclusive to TB and godaddy imap? That's what I have and I saw one of the other threads said they were on godaddy too.

Apparently this is happening to a lot of people.

There is a suggestion to toggle the IDLE setting.

Tools|Account Settings|{select account}|Server Settings→Advanced|Use IDLE command if server supports it

Could you report back on what it is set to, and if toggling it makes any difference?

It did not fix it for me. Originally, IDLE was checked - and of course I am experiencing the issue. I unchecked it, quit TB, restarted. It loaded new messages that were waiting for it - but refused to load the next new message that I sent from another account.

FYI - If I delete a message, new messages get loaded... go figure...

Tried that and it didn't make a difference. Neither did adjusting the # of cache connections (another suggestion in that other thread).

It's working very spotty. Sometimes, if I just make a read message unread, it will suddenly sync the inbox and download new messages, but not all the time.

Also, the IDLE command doesn't seem to work ever anymore. I used to get emails just about instantly when they arrived, even though TB was set to check for new messages every 10 minutes. Now that doesn't function at all and both the automatic check for new messages and the get message button works only occasionally.

OK, thank you.

It would appear Godaddy may have actually addressed their issue.

Our analysis is godaddy had/has an issue with their server software not actually delivering the mail it had said was here.
