I tried to refresh Firefox and it crashed. Now when I click on the Firefox icon, nothing happens. However, a file titled Old Firefox Data appeared on my desktop. I'm using Safari to post this question. Appreciate any help.

When you do a refresh, the old profile is moved to a folder on your desktop called Old Firefox so that it or parts of it can be recovered.

Why did you do the refresh?

Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

Tried a new download, Fred. I received a message that said "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." By the way, I'm working on OSX 10.6.8.
