In the recent release (version 49), there was meant to be a feature to Add Enterprise Root CA's to firefox. However, I am unable to see the function in about:config. (security.enterprise_roots.enabled) https://wiki.mozilla.org/CA:AddRootToFirefox

Is this feature simply missing from the release and will be added in a future patch again? If so, can you advise which release it will now be added in, and update the wiki page also?

The people on Bugzilla will likely have more information on this feature.

It was likely delayed and the documentation has not been changed. It isn't in version 52.* either, so it was likely delayed or cancelled.

As of August 30, 2016 the developers appear to still have some bugs to work out with this feature, according to bug 1298883.

Thanks; Have found a workaround for the moment to add one specific cert to each profiles cert db via a Github script. Works like a charm.

the mentioned preference does not exist by default - you have to manually create it first with a right-click in about:config or by using autoconfig like described in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences...
