Backing, reseting and restoring firefox profiles

more options

So far what I have understood of the way profiles work all I have to do to save my profile would be go to the " %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ " and copy the " xxxxxxxx.default " folder to save it somewhere else and to restore the profile all I would have to do would be just either copy the contents of the backed profile or just change the name of the folder for the current one, is that right?

now my biggest doubt comes here, If I were to delete the " xxxxxxxx.default " in the " %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ " folder after making a back up of it, would that restart my firefox with a new profile?

If you introduce an unrecognized profile folder into the Profiles folder, you can rename the profile folder name to one that Firefox already recognizes (because it is listed in the profiles.ini file) or edit the profiles list to add the new folder.

Simply deleting the current default profile folder will lead to this error: How to run Firefox when your profile is missing or inaccessible.
