I am so sick of the console popping up everytime I accidentally hit Ctrl-Shift-I!!!! And I type over 120 wpm and "i" is almost always capitalized and it is super super easy to hit ctrl when I'm shifting to make a capital i. I have managed to turn off developer tools in about config, so now when I mistakenly hit C-S-I it takes me to an 'enable web tools' page instead of opening a console window. Which is actually an improvement on the console window. Because the console window requires mouse involvement to close and get back to the focus in whatever email or text box I'm typing in. Why in gods green earth are dev tools a part of firefox? They should be an add on!

Let's try this:

1. In your address bar type about:config

2. Click I'll be careful when the warning message appears - this will open your config file.

3. Search for devtools.*.enabled and set all to false.

Note that Ctrl+Shift+I is a toggle, so you only need to press this sequence another time to close the Inspector

I've done that, there's 100s of enabled devtools lines. I was hoping some one could tell me the exact one.

OMG! That's actually helpful info! Right now I'm ctl+f4 away from switching back after I accidentally set it off. But that would work too!
