You know you can create separate user accounts where your passwords are on a login password protected account and others can use the browser but not your logins. Users have long forgotten this and if they use this method others will not have access to your account.

I agree. Set up a 'Public' user account on your computer (no need for a password), and don't tell anyone your user password. If they know it already, change it.

After the above, you won't need to use a Master Password.

Note: Before Quantum, there were add-ons that did what you wanted.

If you close and restart Firefox then you need to re-enter the master password. You would have to keep Firefox running to avoid entering the master password multiple times during a day.

'*facepalm* Yes! Thank you. That's it. I guess I was too focussed on not wanting to have a login-password as my only sensitive data is the stored passwords in FF.

But I guess, this way it must be pretty easy to access my stored passwords on my non-encrypted HDD. Just booting from USB-Linux, mounting the HDD and starting FF on the "PW protected" user account should grant access to the list if it's not MP protected.

Hmm... this is actually wort a try. I wonder if this would work.

Thank you too for this information. So there at least was a way to do that.

Looks like the FF profile folder's permissions are set properly. That's fine for me. Consider this thread as solved. Thanks @ all.
