thunderbird installed on 2 different computers with a common account on a nas. when the thunderbird installed at one of the computers was updated, then, after starting thunderbird on the other computer, i can only decide to close thunderbird or to create a new account. i miss the oppotunity to update this thunderbird to the fitting/newest version.

If you updated TB to, say, 68.6, on one computer, then tried to access the same profile with 68.5, that had already been used in 68.6, you would have received an error like the attached picture. You should be able to resolve this by downloading and running the full installer on the computer with the older version. If you still get the error after making both computers have the same version, launch Profile Manager and select the relevant profile: close TB, Windowskey+R, type thunderbird.exe -p

thank you for your answer and yes, of course, thats the way i used. my message wasn't about a problem, but a hint to improve usability. what about "automatic update in the background"? why not in this case? or give me at least the opportunity to hit a button to start the "downloading and running the full installer on the computer with the older version".
