Gmail won't go back to main list after viewing an email
in Gmail, I am able to pull up my list of emails, but about 80% of the time when I hit the GO BACK ONE PAGE button on the browser, Firefox doesn't go back to the email list. I have to RELOAD CURRENT PAGE to get back to the Gmail email list page. This is happening on both my Windows 10 and Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon systems. emails on Chrome or Opera operate correctly on both systems so it's not Gmail.
Included in the screenshots uploaded with this query, one will see in the first image looking at the email with its link. The second one is after I have pressed the GO BACK ONE PAGE, the email is still visible, but in the address bar it shows the URL for the list page. I had to RELOAD CURRENT PAGE and the Gmail Primary tab comes up even if I was in the Social or Promotion one.
please advise, thanx

That's how the most recent version of the Gmail User Interface works.
"Go back one page" in Firefox doesn't work any longer. The Gmail Menu Bar for (below the "Search mail" bar) "Back to Inbox", button to the right of the Compose button needs to be used to "Go Back" now.
is this because of a change to Gmail or a change to Firefox? I don't know but don't think Google had done much to change the programming with Gmail and since Opera doesn't seem to have an issue either, it sounds like it's an issue with the latest version of Firefox. Are you with Mozilla? If not do you know of anyone who does to let them know about this issue? I would think Mozilla would want to make web browsing easier for computer users. The reason I use the Go Back One Page is cause I don't want to "leave a trail" of pages behind where I am currently am. I think it looks bad to have a giant history from the same website ad infinitum. Or is Mozilla the type to say: "This is how we do it. We don't care about it affects those who use our service/product,"?
