If you choose to compose in Plain Text: when you click on 'Reply' or 'Forward', the email which you were viewing Message body as Original HTML, will have all the HTML is stripped because Plain Text composing does not contain formatting.

If you choose to compose in HTML: when you click on 'Reply' or 'Forward', the email which you were viewing Message body as Original HTML, should still retain all the HTML formatting, although there are occasions when you might discover the formatting included could effect anything you want to type.

If you find all is working as expected, but changes when you click on 'Send', so the recipient cannot see HTML or your saved copy is now Plain Text, this means you may be composing in HTML but you are not sending it as HTML.

How to set up default composing in HTML - note this is set on a per account basis:

  • Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
  • Select 'Composition & Addressing'
  • Select 'Compose messages in HTML format'

Note: if required you can still compose in Plain Text, by holding down 'Shift' key and clicking on 'Write' or 'Reply' etc

How to set up the 'Send Options'

  • 'Menu app icon' > 'Options/Preferences' > 'Composition'
  • Scroll to 'HTML Style' section
  • Click on 'Send Options' button
  • select 'Send the message in both plain text and HTML'
  • click on 'OK'
