When I do Edit > Find > Search messages, Thunderbird finds messages but shows for "Location" only the subfolder in which the message is located, not the full path to the message. I have several subfolders with the same name but different paths, and even for a unique subfolder name I may not know the path to the subfolder. Or even worse, sometimes I've inadvertently dragged/dropped a folder making it a subfolder of a random folder whose name I don't know.

Is there some way to have Thunderbird either (1) provide the full path to the message or (2) allow a search for folders as well as for messages?

If there isn't, is there a way I can request that this feature be added?

Thanks.

Actually, that is one of the purposes of the link I mentioned. Regardless, since you have a workable answer, please close this to remove from list of open topics. Thank you.

If I understand your question, click help>more troubleshooting information. Scroll down to Profile Folder and click to open folder. That opens File Explorer in Windows and the breadcrumbs of the folder location are at top of screen. Messages and where stored will be in either the Mail or the Imapmail folder.

After posting this question, I found someone had provided an answer to a similar question. I'd delete my question except I can't find any way to do so.

FWIW, the answer is to click on the "Open in Folder" button at the bottom of the Search window, which then opens the message and shows the path.

Even so, it would be nice to have a "search folders" feature for the "inadvertently dragged/dropped a folder" problem I mentioned in my question.

Hi David - Thanks for your reply, which came just as I was posting my own reply. I think I'm in good shape regarding messages, though it would be nice to have the option to search for a missing folder, as I indicated in my post and first reply.
