Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

So in safe mode, the new tab webpage is blank. is there a way to set it to a customized website (i.e. Google.com?)

Firefox opens a new tab by default as a blank tab. If you currently get Yahoo! then you have already an extension that overrides this. You may need to fix this first before trying another extension to set a page for a new tab.

You can look at one of these extensions:

Open Firefox in safe mode – Check (disable all add ons) Click on (Make changes and restart) You have an invisible extension being hidden from you. Go to - Tools –Add on – Exstentions - Click - Enable for any add on you want to use.
