After downloading FireFox4, the previous version is now a ghost "layer" underneath the new one. Best way to remove that layer?
Ghosting is located on the two horizontal task bars immediately below the File-Edit-View-History-Bookmarks-Tools-Help task line.

I haven't heard of that, but in case Firefox is having problems interacting with your PC's graphics card/chipset, you could turn off the new graphics acceleration feature. You can do that here:
Tools > Options > Advanced > [uncheck] "Use hardware acceleration when available"
I don't know whether you would see the results immediately, or whether you have to restart Firefox.
Does that help at all??
Tried what you suggested, including re-starting Firefox and even re-booting the PC, but ghosting continues, even in this Firefox Help text arena My PC operates on 2000xp, if that helps for ideas in troubleshooting. Thanks for offering a suggestion.
Could you possibly attach a screenshot/screen capture showing the problem? It's hard to understand from the description.
This article has some suggestions on screen shots, but you don't need to get fancy, we just need to better see what you're seeing.
