I've tried checking/and unchecking the advanced boxes in Javascript thinking that might be a problem, but nothing seems to work, even viewing the Basic Page style.

Most sites lose the formatting and this happens with Safari as well. Once loaded, I'll hit the refresh screen and sometimes the proper formatting will appear. Most often, websites load extremely slow.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thanks, but I did as you suggested and still the problems exist. Since this is happening with another browser, Safari, would the problem lie somewhere with my operating system/computer - I'm on a Mac OS X, version 10.5.8
