How do I reset my firefox browser page in light of the following detail;ed problem?

more options

Firefox was set as my default browser and, somehow, internet explorer began to reappear as default. I uninstalled the firefox programme and re-installed it and reset it as default. I now find that each time I log on to Firefox a blank browser screen appears with the word "Firefox" in the top left hand corner together with a smaller window stating I have chosen to open Mozilla Firefox lnk. which is a lnk file from ppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch and asking whether I would like to open or save the file. How do I revert to the normal Firefox browser page and stop this message from appearing?

with Firefox set as your default browser, you have to go into IE and if it check if it is the default browser. Works the same way in the opposite direction.
