I keep resetting my homepage to Mozilla. But every time I start up again it has been hijacked by these guys ( http://www.newversionchecker.com/?redr=www.google.com) - when I restore the default homepage to Mozilla it comes up in faint print, but it does work - until I switch off and go online again. Then back to the above site - it seems to be a promo for a site called "guaranteed betting tips" . VERY irritating

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Thanks for your help. Didn't get rid of it - my version of AVG was newer than one illustrated. In the end I removed Firefox 6 completely and installed Beta. At the moment my homepage is ok - as I reinstall add ons etc. I may find who was to blame.
