Downloads does not work. Not to be found anywhere.

When I click on attachments in email (Yahoo), a Norton window appears, tells me there is no virus detected. I click on the yellow Download button and nothing happens. I have searched for the documents in the Download folder, in my Documents folder, by file name on my iMac. They aren't anywhere. I tried changing location to another folder for downloads - they don't show up there either.

Sadly, it did not solve the problem. The download window opened, but it is empty. None of the documents I have tried to download appear in the window.

You can check:

Does it help if you disable the scanning in Norton temporarily as a test?

It turns out my difficulty is caused by Yahoo Mail, not by Firefox at all. :-( Sorry to bother you. I had no way to know where the problem was until my kind and helpful friend identified where the problem was. (Yahoo says they know about it and are working on it). Thank you for helping.
