The bookmarkbackups folder contains .json files which can be used to restore -- completely replace bookmark on your new system with the old bookmarks. But I think you would be better off by bringing over your entire Firefox profile.

OK one more time. Windows XP crashed it's beyond repair, it keeps rebooting. Installed new hard drive with windows 7. All the files are still on the old hard drive with windows Xp which is connected in the same computer and set as a slave drive. I found the fire fox files, now I need to find the bookmarks and migrate them to the new hard drive with windows 7. Keep in mind, windows Xp is not booting anymore, I just have access to all the files.

Please read the answers already provided, I provided information on restoring your entire profile not just your bookmarks. Cor-el replied for restoring just your bookmarks. If you look at the documentation for your profile, you will see that places.sqlite contains your bookmarks and your history. If you restore from a bookmarkbackups dated .json file you will restore just bookmarks.

When you set up your new system, you will have to make sure that you do not have hidden files. Since you have the old HD connected you should not have to worry about making file read-only because they got copied to read only data media like a CD-ROM and the restored from there as read-only.
