I have a website which plays theme music with Quicktime. My Firefox browser shows a pale outline of the music box with a question mark. My Netscape and Internet explorer browsers still play the music, but Firefox, after many updates, doesn't.

Has it something to do with a plug-in?

Try to add a MIME type like type="application/x-mplayer2" to the embed to make Firefox use the Windows Media Player.

You can also install the new WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll), you only have the classic WMP plugin (Npdsplay dll)

I was using Quicktime not Windows Media Player. Do I still download the plug-in for Windows Media Player?

It is a MIDI file send as audio/x-midi by the server.

Do you see the audio/x-midi MIME type listed on the about:plugins page as handled by QuickTime or another plugin?
