I had fixed Screengrab add-on and had it working in 10.0.1 but 10.0.2 disabled it and I can't seem to get it back.
I really enjoy this add-on, found I can't live without it. I have followed this issue since Firefox 8.0 and found that even 'Compatibility Reporter' is now non functional also with 10.0.2!!!
The add-on WORKS FINE! it is just a text change on the version max that is the issue. How do I FORCE Firefox to accept it? Is there some entry in the about:config I can modify?
When I try to 'Install add-on from File' I get "Screengrab could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 10.0.2." It was compatible for three weeks running in 10.0.2 after the 10.0.1 to 10.0.2 upgrade and then today when I started Firefox it was gone and the add-on Manager only had a Remove button, no Enable/Disable option available! I Removed it thinking I could just put it back. I can't.
Alternately where can I get 10.0.1 and revert back to it [ and never upgrade again!] I tried http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html but it doesn't seem to be what I need, it is just 3.6.* and I don't need to go back that far.
Worst of all. I have Firefox 10.0.2 on a Windows 2000 Pro PC and is still works with screengrab 0.96.3 fixed!

I was able to install the extension from a file after going into about:config and disabling extensions.getAddons.cache.enabled (toggle true -> false).
If I turn it back on after installing the extension, Tools->Add-ons->Extensions shows an error "Screengrab is incompatible with Firefox 10.0.2", but it continues to work as expected.

Screenshot from Win2K FF10.0.2 WITH screengrab add-on just for reference.
Follow up. I found Firefox 10.0.1. d/l and install and the add-on still isn't accepted. So I found Firefox 9.0.1 and did a d/l and install. screengrab installed just fine.
My next move is to see if it remains when I try to upgrade to the 10.0.1 I d/l'ed. If this works I am leaving Firefox in manual upgrade mode from now on.

Follow up. Letting FF 9.0.1 run for a while still, so far so good. However today the Win2K FF 10.0.2 that was still working now shows only a remove button just as the XP FF 10.0.2 did when my problem started.
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is a compatibility update available.

dan743,
Thank you!
I applied the toggle to the config entry. Upgraded the FF9.0.1 I had working and was still testing before attempting another upgrade to FF10.0.1.
The upgrade to FF10.0.1 went clean. I applied the fixed XPI file I had used on FF9.0.1 and all went well. Did a restart of FF10.0.1 and produced the attached image from this page.
Thank you very much!
