Did you try the searchreset extension?
Try to reset prefs related to searchmagnified on the about:config page.
- Open the about:config page via the location bar and do a search for searchmagnified via the Search bar at the top of the about:config page.
- Reset all searchmagnified related prefs that appear bold (user set) via the right-click context menu to their default values.

In what way does the searchmagnified.com website manifests itself?
Is that searching via the location bar or otherwise?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

You can also try this extension:
In the address bar. If I type in urladdress.com instead of going to url it takes me to searchmagnified.com. I have google set up as my search engine and home page.

I tried those with no results. On further experimentation the problem has stopped. I have no idea, but it is working currently. Thank you for your help.
