This issue I have been dealing with for about 2 months. I have read the questions and comments regarding this problem with other users, and I think perhaps I need to create a new Firefox profile. My computer knowledge is very limited but I can follow instructions fairly well. I just wonder if I will know what to do once I have clicked the Start>Run, then type in (fiefox.exe -P once the menu drops down. I don,t know what fiefox version I have, and I don,t recall creating a new profile when I swithced to the firefox browser. I do know my OS is Windows XP and I have Yahoo as my home page (that has been my email program for 5 years). I noticed Vyper has done a lot of research on this particular problem. I believe my add-ons are all up-dated and I have 2 disabled. I just don,t know what to type if firefox ask me if I want to disable this or that once I start the process of creating a new profile. Is there any help for me? I loved Firexox when I first sarted using the browser, but now it is a pain, It stalls about every 12 minuets. Thank you so much, Jeanette Gonzales

It is never a good idea to expose your e-mail address that easily on the internet like yours does because you are using it as the user name on this forum (maybe not deliberately, but merely entered it in the wrong field).

Only an Administrator can remove that trailing part or otherwise modify the user name as shown on this forum.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information (this is essentially a new profile). Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

You may want to consider posting a request to change the user name to one that doesn't have your email address to avoid getting spam messages in case spam bots pick it up.

You can post such a "Want to change my user name" request in the contributors forum if you want to change the user name.

Add [ATTN Admin] in front of the subject title to get the attention of a forum Administrator.

Cor-el, please explain why I might consider changing my user name to one that doesn,t have my email address to avoid getting spam messages. I am sorry but I just do not understand the suggestion. Are you suggesting that I should not use Jeanette? Would you be so kind to elaborate a little more with an example? Thanks.
