My spell check does not work. Ubuntu Help suggested downloading the 'English spell checking dictionary addon' for Firefox but when searching firefox addons it says not supported for firefox 19. What now?

The en-US dictionary should work with Firefox 19: Works with Firefox 2.0 - 22.0

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.

At least one dictionary should be installed and have a check mark to indicate that it is selected.

  • Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
  • Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.

You can enable or disable spell checking globally:

  • Edit > Preferences > Advanced : General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"

You can look here for dictionaries:

This add-on let you install all add-ons, install it firstly, and then install spell-check.

Thanks Cor-el! I have 2 English-North American listed now. I right clicked on the new one I installed because of you and it works great, thanks.
