I recently upgraded to Firefox 20.0 on my desktop at home. The Norton Toolbar and Xfinity Constant Guard Protection Suite are incompatible. Is there a fix for this problem and is my security protection still working when I use Firefox?

The norton toolbar doesn't actually do anything to protect your computer, you can use Firefox without it and Norton is still running on your machine.

You can however update norton to support Firefox 20, https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20100720113635EN_EndUserProfile_en_us

Thanks, that helps.

After following the instructions you posted, it still says they are incompatible with Firefox 20.0. I have the Norton Security Suite and Xfinity Constant Guard Protection Suite through Comcast, so the link didn't work. Thanks.

Have you tried running a LiveUpdate for Comcast/Norton??

Yeah, tried that. It completes the LiveUpdate, but it doesn't have any effect with Firefox 20.0 and the add-ons. Thanks.

I have Norton Security Suite provided by Comcast and ran LiveUpdate until there were no more updates and restarted the computer (Windows 7). Norton Toolbar 2013.3.1.3 updated April 20, 2013 still not showing compatible and no option to enable. Constant Guard 1.13.219.1 updated February 28, 2013 also not compatible.

Thanks, I have already done the same and it fixed the problem.

This is an endless battle between Firefox & Norton Symantec with just about every update Firefox comes out with. As someone wrote "The norton toolbar doesn't actually do anything to protect your computer, you can use Firefox without it and Norton is still running on your machine."

Having used Norton/Symantec since its origin...it is not about Norton Protecting Our Computer, which we already know Norton does protect...it is the Use of Having the Toolbar being visible to access Identity Safe & having Safe Web features being displayed.

Yes....We Know we Can use Firefox without Norton, but it is not Safe when Browsing or doing a Search i.e. using Google and being notified of Potential Unsafe Web Sites, With Pre-Warning of Computer Threats, Identity Threats, Annoyance Factors, Ecommerce Safety Threats, or Security Information Not Available.

And the Norton Toolbar works for I.E., Chrome, and sometimes Firefox....I personally use all 3 browsers, as they all have issues from time to time, as I am a Researcher, online 8-16 hours a day, and do not like having to stop working, so I switch to another browser. And I have over 100 different usernames and passwords for the sites I visit, and with Auto_Fill enabled, I do not have to remember each and every different site username & password or open another file just to view what it is.

Having the Toolbar is indispensable for myself and the work I do. I do not allow Browser's to remember Usernames & Passwords. And I like to be forewarned before entering a site if possible and protected.

Just to close this once and for all:

Norton's compatibility with Firefox is Norton's responsibility. They are usually very good about making sure they update their software quickly to support new Firefox releases (the dates of which are posted months in advance). However, Firefox can't update their software for them, that is all Norton's problem and they have to resolve it.

Norton Toolbar does nothing to actually enhance your computer's protection. Firefox (and all major browsers) have built in malware and phishing protection, rendering the protection in the Norton Toolbar redundant.

The only legit use case for Norton software in the browser is password storage, but you should seriously consider an offering that updates their software reliably, or use Firefox's built in password storage.
