When I updated to Firefox 21.0, I found that Flash Player Plug-in 11.7.700.202 was not working. Videos would not play. Had no problem before the Firefox upgrade. I downloaded a new copy of the player but the download would not complete. A error message (only a single instance of this application can run) appeared. I used Adobe Flash Player's uninstall to delete all Flash files. Then I tried downloading Flash 11.7.700.202 again. Same error message appeared and would not finish the download. Chrome videos work with no problem. Is there a hidden Flash file somewhere that's conflicting? Is this a Mozilla bug? I looked at all the support topics and didn't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems you mean "installing" instead of "downloading". Downloading means saving a file from a web page to your computer. Installing means launching the setup file and completing the steps described on-screen. If downloading fails, then there's no point in trying to install the application, because the setup file is unusable.

That particular error message means you have two Flash Player installers running simultaneously. According to the Adobe knowledgebase, simply clicking the OK button closes one of them and allows the installation to continue.

If the problem persists,
1. Save the Flash Player uninstaller somewhere handy, like the desktop.

2. Save the Flash Player installer somewhere handy, like the desktop. If you use Internet Explorer, also save the Flash Player installer for IE.

3. Exit all browsers, and other applications that may be using Flash Player, like Media Player Classic Home Cinema.
4. Run the uninstaller and complete the process.
5. Restart Windows (click the Windows logo orb on the taskbar, hover the mouse over the arrow next to the Shut Down button, then from the menu choose Restart).
6. Run the Flash Player installer for Firefox and complete the process.
7. If needed, also run the Flash Player installer for Internet Explorer.
8. Verify that the installation was successful on the following page.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

That did it, Gingerbread_Man. Thanks. Sorry about the terminology. The proper word escaped me. I stand rebuked. I think the problem was in keeping Firefox open while trying to install Flash Player Plug-in. Appreciate the good help.

If you want to install Adobe Flash Player, Adobe let you unfortunately only download a 'down manager file'. (I hate these expendable stupid download manager files so much...) You then start this downloaded file to downlod the real flash player install file. Here this download stops at some 50%. This problem exists for lets say a year or so and Adobe is not able to solve it and apparently sticks to this download manager file for I don't wanna know what reasons...

Resolution: google for the 'full install file' to skip this download manager file as it is the problem here.

Here a link to download the full installer directly:

My problem is something like this. I have updated my Mozilla Firefox to 21.0 and Adobe Flash Player to 11.7.700.202. After this my firefox even can't enter facebook or youtube. However I disabled schockwave flash player plugin and I noticed that I can enter facebook and youtube but now I can't chat on facebook or can't watch videos on youtube. Nowadays I use Google Chrome instead of Mozilla Firefox but I want to use firefox. Can anybody help me? I even tried to download them again but it didn't help me .
