Firefox does not show add-ons and extensions
After downloading a freeware program loaded with malware/spyware i set about restoring the system overnight to find nothing showing in the add-ons, extensions and appearances section. Even clicking on 'get add-ons' section does not take me to the site as it used to, as it just continuously tries to load. I deleted the extension files (e.g. sqlite, ini, rdf) as suggested in previous posts but this did not fix the problem. Would i need to reset Firefox and if so will i lose all my bookmarks and add-ons?

What does the reset feature do? All of your Firefox settings and personal information are stored in your profile folder. The reset feature works by creating a new profile folder for you while saving your most important data. Firefox will try to keep the following data: Bookmarks Browsing history Passwords Cookies Web form auto-fill information
Most everything else is saved to a folder on the Desktop, should you want to revert from the reset.
Did you delete compatibility.ini and addons.sqlite as well?
I could not find any compatibility.ini or extension ini. file/s in the folder, however i found the addons.sqlite which i deleted but this did not fix the problem. In fact, i don't see any .ini files at all. I have attached screenshot with list of files
The compatibility.ini file shows as compatibility
Windows hides some file extensions by default.
Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see a name without file extension.
You can see the real file type if you open the Properties via the right-click context menu.
Deleting both the extension ini and the compatibility ini files fixed the problem
Thank You
