Even though I set my own home pages for start-up, everytime I open Firefox, I get the yahoo search page. I have reset this many times. It will not work. Why?

I know how to set my home page. I've been doing it for years. Now all of a sudden, it will not stick. Also, I did not have Yahoo in my search engine list. Not only is it there, but it puts itself as the default instead of the engine I choose. When I try to delete Yahoo, it comes back again. Help, I've been invaded.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
