Over the past few days, accessing Facebook -- not even playing games on the site -- slows down my browser to the point where it completely hangs. The memory usage increases from roughly 200 MB to well over 1 GB. I have already deleted my cache and rebooted my PC to no avail.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
