I had a problem with my old Firefox Sync account (from work, using my work email address) and I would like to set up Sync again using my personal account. When I go to try to set up Sync, my only options appear to be "Create a New Account" or "I Have an Account". If I select create a new account, I get stuck because technically the account has already been used (I set up Sync a few years ago using my personal account but never utilized it), even though it is not in use on any of my machines. If I select I have an account, it wants me to sync the device with another, but I don't have another to sync to. I want to use my already existing account to set up Sync from scratch on my main machine. How can I get this done?

on another note: firefox 29 which is going to be released at the end of the month will use a different account system (not compatible with current sync accounts), so it might not be worth the effort setting up sync with the old credentials now: Sync your Firefox bookmarks, history, passwords and more

hello DoctorNasty, you could try resetting the password for your account under the private mail address at https://services.mozilla.com if you have forgot that in the meantime.

Yeah, I have done this, as I had forgotten it. However, this does nothing to change my situation.

then go to firefox > options > sync > set up sync > i have an account > i don't have a device with me. enter the username/password and click on "i have lost the other device"...

Ok, cool I will try this.

Ok, excellent. I updated Firefox to 29beta and the new Sync seems to have fixed my problems. Thanks for the heads up on this.

Keep in mind that installing a beta release will move you to the Beta update channel and you will keep getting updates to next beta releases.
To prevent that you need to install the full Firefox 29.0 version once it gets released.

Ok I will make sure to do this, thanks.
