I have found a little info on this and it points to malware/virus, yet only for pc users. I have a Mac. Does anyone know a Terminal command that can eradicate this? also, it was noted that the basic virus scanners won't detect it, as it is embedded deeply.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and search for prefs that refer to us.yhs4.search and reset related user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.
