On my Yahoo7 homepage the local weather shows Casuarina(Northern Territory). This has been the case for a week now,I am unable to change to my local weather for Adelaide (South Australia). This problem is on Firefox only. It's fine on Internet Explorer.

ps I know how to change location,on Firefox it will not change.

I do not have an account, but when I visited the home page for the first time it asked me if I wanted to set a default location. Is it possible that there is a stored cookie locally in the Firefox cache that has stored an old cookie with this location?

If so, you can open up History and search for the specific site that has the location displayed incorrectly. From there delete the pages and revisit the page in the browser.

Also to view cookies only:

  1. Go to Firefox > Preferences /Options/Settings > Privacy > ----> Click on Show Cookies... button
  2. Filter yahoo weather and delete these.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestion but it did not work. I shut my computer down later that day and on restart everything was fine for 2 days then all of a sudden a different suburb of Adelaide was showing (Blackwood). Now I am unable to change from Blackwood. When I click on the arrow next to the suburb(sometimes arrow appears,sometimes not) the following message appears ;

Unable to update/save/retrieve your location. Please try again.

The same I got "sever doesn't fetch your current location".... I guess its server error from there side . however clearing cookies is not solving the problem... !!

Since Yahoo7 is based in Australia, is your IP reflecting the error? https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20111110093928AA1Tlfd

I am not entirely sure if the site stores the location in the profile the user is logged in as or if it is the location based off of the IP address.

Please also try changing the location: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20140212072112AA8cVK4 and reload past the cache.

Reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using one of the following steps:
  • Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload button with a left click.

OR

  • Press Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows and Linux)
  • Press Command + Shift + R (Mac)

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
