I am a medical student and have a variety of folders for different medical areas. It seems there must be a limit on how many bookmarks I can add to any one of these folders because when I add new ones to a folder and then look for them, they're gone.

There shouldn't be a limit about how many bookmarks you can place in a folder.

If you have problems with the bookmarks then it is more likely that you have a problem with the places.sqlite database file that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
