hello dba1, does it work when you go into the acrobat reader > edit > preferences > general & click on the default application option at the bottom? in there reselect adobe's application and confirm this selection...

Hello philipp: thanks for help, but I am running Acrobat 8 Standard, version 8.3.1. I dont see the default application option that you are referring to.

can you try to run a repair installation of adobe acrobat and to look in the system control panel if pdfs are associated to acrobat correctly?
