Cannot update to Firefox 34.0.5 (currently using 32.0.3)

I'm currently using Firefox version 32.0.3 and I am unable to update to the latest version (34.0.5). I am always presented with the error "The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed)". I have also tried manually installing the latest version but after unpacking the EXE file nothing happens.

What could be causing this? Never had an issue updating Firefox on this laptop before (Win 7 64 bit).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chosen solution

Hi auroradark, try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) and then see if that allows to download and install Firefox from the next (full installer) link :

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

thank you
