Can you suggest antivirus software that TBird will run OK with?

I have been using McAfee Internet Security but have had to turn off real-time scanning as this slows TBird disastrously. Is there AV software that will work with TBird or do I have to change to a different email system?

Turning off real-timing scanning entirely is a silly idea. Just create an exception for the Thunderbird profile folder. And don't let McAfee scan incoming and outgoing messages and attachments. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#McAfee
