I'm not receiving the email needed to re-set my password- what now?
So one day I cannot access my Thunderbird account without signing in. I couldn't remember my username or password so I entered my email address to get a message instructing me on how to re-set. I have now repeated that step several times using two different email addresses but I do not receive any message. I am stuck! Any suggestions on how to get past this? Thank you!

Lets think this one through. No email provider is going to send you any reset password or even instructions on how to reset your email password via email. Simple logic says that if you are having password problems you cannot open that email.
Go to your email providers web mail page and see if you can log in there. If you can then you have something else causing the password error like incorrect server settings. If it does not work there look for a link to reset the password.
Most if not all providers have a link on their email help page for you to reset a forgotten password. You need to go thee or contact your email provider for help. As Norio states above, Thunderbird is email client software running on your computer. It has nothing to do with administering your email password.

Hi cckaum, I'm not sure I understand what you are saying.
Thunderbird will not send you an email with your password when you forget it. Thunderbird is just an email client and is not your email provider.
You need to contact your email provider and make arrangements to get an email from them with your current password, or with instructions for resetting your password (which is what most providers do nowadays).
Your email provider probably has a web mail interface for logging into your account through your browser. There are probably instructions in the interface for what to do if you can't remember your password.

Airmail is right. I didn't think it through very well. Doh! How would you get email if you can't get into your email?
