I am not sure this will turn out to be a Firefox Android support question.

What are you trying to achieve.

  • Are you trying to use the Laptops internet on your phone ?
  • Or are you trying to tether the laptop to the phone and use the phones internet connection on the laptop ?
  • On which device do you have to turn the WiFi off ? and why ??
  • An Android phone will normally only connect to one WiFi at a time. A laptop may have capabilities for more than one Wifi channel.

Your Laptop should be able to connect with a home Router using either WiFi or an ethernet cable (Most modern home routers are WiFi capable). Your phone should be able to connect directly to the home router WiFi.

A phones internet provider may not support tethering other devices, or may make costly data charges for using your phone as a hotspot.
