1) Open "Show All Bookmarks" library. 2) Search for any item you know it's in there, but you do not know where it is located among the bookmarks. 3) Click on any item in the resulting list. 4) You will see many info about the item (bookmark) you clicked on.

What you will *NOT* see is this very important piece of info: THE LOCATION WITHIN THE LIBRARY OF THIS BOOKMARK.

Where is that bookmark placed in the library?? Under which folder/subfolder??

I urge FireFox developers to add this info. Please....

Thank You!

Chosen solution

There is an add-on for this:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/show-parent-folder/

After installing and enabling the extension, Parent Folder should appear on the columns list in the Library dialog.

If you want to see the full hierarchy to the bookmark rather than just the name of the folder, you can set that on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then find Show Parent Folder on the right and click its Options button.

Note: The extension was created more than 7 years ago and it still isn't a built-in feature, so please don't hold your breath!

That's really BAD! It's such an important feature when your bookmarks library grows and grows.

Anyhow, for not the add-on seems working fine. I'm Linux with FF 38.0

Thank You.

Note that you can open the bookmark in a tab (possibly in off line mode). Then you can click the star on the Navigation Toolbar (Edit this bookmark) to inspect its properties and find the location (folder).
