In an attempt to work this out myself, I updated my java and adobe flash shockwave to it's newest settings.

Which didn't do much

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

What security software do you have?

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.

the closest thing that works is clearing the cache. When I do this, it will work momentarily before later when loading other pages it starts fucking up

If you see HTML code on a web page that isn't suppose to show up then you may have other (security) software that modifies the HTTP response headers and that changes the content-type to text/plain instead of the real content-type. A content-type like text/plain will always make Firefox show the code as text. You can try check that in the Inspector or use the Live Http Headers extension.

so install the extension?
