Unfamiliar with Thunderbird 38.3s behavior - operation!
Several weeks after installing Win 10 my Vaio SVE17122CXB CRASHED. After I finally got the restore DVDs I've managed to reinstall Win 8, FireFox and Thunderbird. Thunderbird is Ver 38.3. While I suspect the problem(s) may be an operator head space - user setting issue, when I cannot clearly describe what this newest version of Thunderbird, based on my YEARS of experience with Netscape and more recently with Thunderbird.
The previous version of Thunderbird would display how many new messages were new and being downloaded once I clicked 'Get Mail'. Now there's a momentary flash of info in the lower L corner and often nothing happens. Then while I am doing something else such as writing an e-mail or replying to a message, new messages will start coming in.
As soon as I downloaded and installed Thunderbird I changed the options i.e. turned OFF get mail every .... and get mail when Thunderbird starts.
For whatever reason new mail randomly displays NEW for some messages and NOT for others plus once I've read the message sometimes it remains marked NEW, but other times NEW goes away.
Even though get mail when Thunderbird starts is turned OFF, sometimes new mail appears after I open Thunderbird.
Why is 38.3 so ERRATIC and what am I doing WRONG or what can I do to return to the stability - familiarity I am used to?
THANKS
Mrs. RA
