Firefox browser now has an extra 3mm ( on my 11.6" laptop) of waste space above the tabs.. this means 3mm less usable window. How can I retrieve the full window

more options

Before, the tabs were right at the top left and across and the minimise and close boxes were on the same level as the tabs across on the right so there was no waste space on the header, so more window area. Now there is about 3mm extra of wasted height. How can I fix this? Win 7.

Chosen solution

Are you sure the window is maximized? Normally the tabs do not slide up into the title bar until the window is maximized.

If they still don't slide up, you could double-check this setting:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste tabs and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar preference is bolded and "user set" to false, double-click it to restore the default value of true
