Hello guys,

I have a number of email addresses in my Thunderbird application. Recently I added a new IMAP one. I receive emails there, I read them, then switch out of the application and when I get back after some time (between 5-15 minutes) the emails are gone. They are not in the Trash bin, Deleted Items, or any other folder. Please give me a hint how to fix it. It's very important.

Thanks in advance!

My guess is you are getting mail on another device like a phone and it is removing the mails from the server. IMAP is Fully synchronized to the server.

Hi Matt,

the thing is that this is a work e-mail and no one should delete anything from it. Any other ideas, in case people did what they are supposed to do, or rather not do? :)

Regards,

The thing is I gave you a suggestion? was it correct? is thee a device. These days most people are using IMAP and it is synchronised to the mail server. IF the mail is deleted on the server Thunderbird will also delete it. That is how the protocol works. SO. What else is getting mail and might be the root cause?.

I get that. And no, no one is deleting the emails. So I am asking everyone - is there anything I can do?

Thanks!

  1. You are the only one that can access this account?
  2. You have only one device with access to this account?
  3. You don't have a filter that moves mail to local folders? (or if point 1 or 2 is false that person or device)?

Hello guys,

I guess that there is a device, that this email has been set on before I got this job and no one knows where it is. Is there a way to track all IP addresses that a certain email account is connecting from?
