Where do I find the Thunderbird address book on my hard drive?

I am buying a new desktop and I'm planning to migrate to Thunderbird from Microsoft Outlook. However for boring legal reasons it is very important that my address book is stored locally on my computer and not in the cloud. I also need to back it up regularly and keep the backup on an external hard drive. Where do I find the Thunderbird address book on my hard drive please?

It is stored in files with a .mab extension, in your profile.

I'd suggest just backing up your entire profile. Individual mab files are of limited value for backup purposes.
