In firefox 56.0 on Windows 10, I do the following:

1. browse normally 2. Menu Item -> Browse Private Window 3. In the private window, go to 'eroprofile.com' (yes, it's porn, so NSFW) 4. close everything 5. open firefox again, click on new tab. the eroprofile site is on the list.

This is unfortunate. I just cleared my history and did it again to verify that the mistake was not mine (like browsing without using a private window). Using adblockplus and noscript 5.1.1

Does the site appear in History, too? Normally you wouldn't expect a thumbnail for a site that doesn't appear in history.

Did you try Safe Mode in case an extension is leaking this data?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
