i screwed up :( i pulled one tab out of my main window. the main window had 25 tabs. then i accidentally closed the main window leaving the one tab. now when i restart the browser, and it pulls my last tabs up, only the single tab is opened. I checked on the session files and copied them prior to restarting my browser, so i believe i have them to be used. I followed some other solution recommendations - renaming the sessionstore.js file, and copying in one of the saved files - but it did not work as i still do not get the tabs i am looking for.

Hi beastman1, to determine which files has the missing tabs, you can drag and drop your most promising session history files (e.g., recovery.jsonlz4, previous.jsonlz4) onto this tool on my website:

https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/scrounger.html

You also can save the list as an HTML page of clickable links if restoration continues to be a struggle.

If you have Not yet closed Firefox;

Call up the Menubar (F10). and select History. Look for Recently Closed Window.

thanks Fred- the windows are long closed. before even closing that last single tab window, the history was [empty] not letting me re-access the tabs in that manner
