Copy/Paste about:preferences#general to the Address Bar then Enter Go down to Files and Applications --> Downloads Change where you want to download it to here.

thank you but NO, so far not working.

i did as instructed above and was able to change it to “always ask where to save files” and that appears to have been accomplished.

then: -i find a video i want to download. -i click on balloons. -a window with title of video appears with option to convert to mp4 and i click on that. -a window appears with 7 options to choose from of quick download, download, download and convert, copy url, details, delete, pin.

- only option offered is click on “download, download the file to your hard drive”

it use to give me an option to choose hard drive or desktop. i no longer have the desktop option. do i need to shut down the computer or something? i do use a MAC. thanks for your service helping me.

What software or site are you using to get the video? Maybe a link could help other see what happens when they go to save a video.

I would think it is that program that has override over Firefox Download as it is using it's own menu for choice. It is the problem of what ever you are using to download those.

Since do not have send info to Mozilla checked within Firefox I do not have the list of extensions you use. This would have been helpful.

Please go to the homepage of the Developer of the extension or program you are using and look for the Support link on their page as : Mozilla only ok's Extensions submitted by Developers to be used with Firefox. They ok them only and give the Developer a web page to distribute their Extension from. This in no means that Firefox Support does the Developers Support when their page has a Support link and a contact Link.
