What exactly do you mean Google takes over? This is so vague and General no one will know where to start?

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; (<Control> [Mac=<Command>] <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Google “ Anything.

Also look for SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch, Findwide Search Engine

Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Google Search does come with Firefox, and in some locales it is set as the default search engine; but you can select your own choice for "your"default search engine quite easily.

Sorry, there is no way to completely remove Google Search from Firefox, without it coming back after an update. Just don't use it and set another Search engine as your default.
