I downloaded version 69.0.1 and the backup bookmark folder is empty, how do I recover 10 years of bookmarks?

Unfortunately I had to reinstall Firefox and upon downloading the most recent version the Old Firefox Data containing the backup bookmarks is completely empty. I do not know how to recover these? I do not have any old data saved either. Or at least none that I can find.

Having more than one profile folder has nothing to do with Sync. In some cases Firefox will create a new profile and this means that this new profile doesn't have the content of your previously used profile.

Firefox 67 and later can use a dedicated profile for each of the Firefox update channels and will lock the profile, so it can only be used by Firefox in a specific installation folder. For Release versions this profile would be a xxxxxxxx.default-release profile, profiles used in older Firefox versions usually used a xxxxxxxx.default profile (a refresh adds a time stamp).

See "Determine if Firefox has created a new profile":

You can open the about:profiles page via the location bar to check whether multiple profiles are present and what profile Firefox currently is using.

Hi Mondwd,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties recovering your bookmarks.

Perhaps checking if Firefox created a new profile?

If you haven't, you can check by pulling up the Profile Manager to see if another profile exists by typing about:profiles in the address bar and pressing Enter.

You can check if the missing bookmarks are in a different profile by clicking Launch profile in new browser.

I don't believe this is the issue. I've never had a Firefox account up until now. I needed to create one to post this question.

I was able to retrieve all of my bookmarks by Determine if Firefox has created a new profile https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-lost-or-missing-bookmarks

Thank you for your assistance. Disaster averted.
